SIPS // 20/10

August 24, 2012

Yep – those are carrots. But before you get all “i’m not drinking carrots in my cocktails” on me, try it! This is a great savory rum alternative to a bloody mary. I’d start every morning with one of these if I didn’t actually have to get things done…

20/1o

1.5 oz Don Q anejo rum
0.5 oz Big O spiced ginger liqueur
1 oz carrot juice
0.75 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
0.25 oz orgeat-almond syrup
0.5 oz simple syrup*
2 sprigs cilantro

Combine all ingredients, minus one sprig cilantro for garnish, in a cocktail shaker. Shake and fine strain over rocks.

*To make simple syrup: Use 1 part water to 1 part sugar. Bring water to a boil. Dissolve sugar in water completely. Remove from heat and let cool before bottling.
