Little known Jess fact: i have six tattoos.

The day I came home with my first, a small dove on my foot (yes, i put a bird on it), my dad would not look at me. Obviously not a fan of tattoos, he was adamant that I should not put permanent ink on myself. I was heading back to finish my first semester of college that same day, so pops didn’t end up seeing it until Thanksgiving. I still get an eye roll with each new addition, but I we’re over the ink lectures now.

I love all the teensy pieces of art scattered across my body. You can see one just peeking out beneath my watch in the photo above.

Do you have any tattoos? Thinking of getting one? Share below!

I have six tattoos, thinking about one more and wishing I could change one. Something about tattoos I just love, they are an expression or tell a story.

I have zero! I have wanted one since I was 13 (I’m 35 now), but by the time I was 18, I had outgrown the design I loved for five years, and now I’m afraid that any design or placement I love will bother me someday. I do think often about getting a simple line around my left wrist (I wear watches and jewelry there most often, so I could camouflage it pretty easily), and may pull the trigger, but at 35, I also wonder if that ship hasn’t sailed.

I have 2 and want more. The first is my daughters name in script facing out on my wrist. Second is a few months old, a bird and my daughters nickname on the top of my foot.

I have two. One is a 13 with a little star on my right wrist – I don’t regret getting it but if I had the chance I wouldn’t get it done again, as it doesn’t mean nearly as much as my second one. The second one is a fern on my right inner ankle, symbolising my year in and love for New Zealand.

I have 3 so far: “en medias res” on my left forearm, a cloud I drew on my right hip and a beautiful fish drawn by an artist I love on my neck! I have many more planned but the crown jewel of which will be a half-sleeve I’ve been planning for years on my upper right arm that will be an homage to the beautiful children’s book art that influenced me most in my formative years. I can’t WAIT for that one to come to life!
