Getting Inspired

August 8, 2013
by

Inside a quaint hotel in Kansas City, in a room brimming with striped shirts and peplum dresses, sat eager bloggers with thumbs ready to tweet snippets of wisdom from those who came before them.

Like a good blogger (and just plain lover of patterns), I was decked out in stripes – with red lips and a top knot for good measure. I sat patiently waiting to hear from the speakers at Go Blog Social; many of them were the savvy women behind the websites on my ‘everyday read list.’

I had the pleasure of meeting talented ladies and seeing an excellent line up of rousing speakers. The most inspiring take-away came from the fabulous duo at Ampersand Design Studios, who spoke to branding. It was rejuvenating and lit a fire where embers were starting to fade. The “aha!” moment was more like an “oh. yes. i should remember that.” moment and came when Carrie and Morgan shared an Ira Glass quote I’d read before.

Here are the all inspiring tidbits I took away from Go Blog Social. And because not all you lovely readers are bloggers, I focused on the phrases that could apply beyond the online life and into actual life.

I have already started spreading the “Ask for money, get advice. Ask for advice, get money” theory! Love that – so true.

Likewise, Sarah! Same applies to St. Louis. I should be making a trip to the windy city within the month! I’ll keep you posted.

I like the “you have to start somewhere.” I just recently started blogging again and need to remind myself of that (with a lot of other things, too!)
